Electrical Technician | Clipper Windpower, Inc. | Cedar Rapids, IA

This motivated individual will be responsible for the electrical testing and electrical/mechanical system assembly of the 2.5-megawatt Liberty Turbine.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical systems for wind turbines installing components, subassemblies, wiring, and hardware.
  • Inspect and test wiring installations, assemblies and circuits for correct operation and record results.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and repair systems failing to pass production tests.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, work orders, and reports in order to determine material requirements and proper assembly procedures.
  • Position, align, and adjust components to facilitate assembly. Assist with the set-up of electrical work for assembly team members on multiple shifts.
  • Assist assembly personnel in learning and performing standard production unit tests.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to modify and improve current configurations to improve the assembly process and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Assist with providing procurement, suppliers, and field personnel technical expertise with regard to system performance, assembly, and test.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control and other manufacturing techniques particularly as it concerns electrical control and distribution systems for maximizing the effective assembly and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, machine tools, electrical testing devices, and inspection devices including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects.
  • Previous electrical work-related skill, knowledge or experience is required.
  • Specific knowledge of electrical safety practices and working around charged systems.

EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum technical school diploma with electric system and diagnosis emphasis.
